  We've known for over one hundred years that all forms of energy influence the curvature of spacetime: mass, radiation, momentum, pressure. The source of the gravitational field is literally called the energy-stress-tensor. This, however, is about topological defects.

          I know. He must be oversimplifying. It's pretty basic stuff, the way it's phrased it's definitely wrong.
