Why?
- more_corn 2y agoBecause if musk doesn’t get what he wants he could quit in a fit of childish pique. If musk departs he takes his reality distortion field with him, Tesla gets valued as a car company which is 4x lower than the current valuation as an edgelord’s engine of the future. The stock starts to tank, the short sellers finally scent blood, trading is halted as the stock plummets. Opens again the next day and the process repeats. Which would all be bad for musk since his net worth would tank, but he’s impulsive so it’s unlikely that he’ll transition out gracefully like an adult. If the pay package gets voted down it’ll probably be a bloodbath. But what do I know? I can’t see the future, I’m just guessing.
- jfengel 2y agoThat would cost me a fair bit of money. I'm voting against his pay package anyway. I think it would be good for the company if he stomps off. I purchased TSLA stock before it became a meme. I believe in the company -- including the ideas that Musk brought to it. I think it can be a lot more than a car company. I now think he's holding it back. His attention is divided, and one thing it's divided among is trolling. He's making decisions to cause outrage and it's hurting the companies he runs. Only SpaceX seems to escape it. Tesla might not ever achieve what I think it could be. But I think putting somebody who actually cares about its success will be crucial.
