San Francisco not sure if effort to curb drug epidemic helps addicts get sober
- zer00eyz 2y agoI live in the Bay Area, I consider myself a leftist. The progressive idea of "defund the police" and do interventions didn't work. The Hard right idea of "just lock them up" also didn't work. You know what will change this... throw them in the back of a police car and give them the choice, rehab or jail. Do both and give the user the option. And, housing and jobs when you get out of either are a MUST HAVE. This is another area where CA have dropped the ball.
- orangesite 2y agoI think you're right but I'd add another choice: 1. Psychiatric care 2. Rehab 3. Jail The mayhem created by deinstitutionalisation is vastly under-appreciated.
