Show HN: I built job search platform for Architects
Hi HN,
I started my solopreneur journey this year and I’d like to share something I’ve been working on: ArchGee - a job search platform for architects, interior designers, urban planners, and other professionals in the architecture field. Coming from an IT background, I’ve seen plenty of job boards for IT roles. However, my architect friends often struggle to find job opportunities specific to their unique skills.
Archgee is designed to fill this gap. It’s tailored exclusively for the architecture community, making it easier to find relevant opportunities. At first I am planning to integrate jobs from other search platforms (jobs that are relevant to architecture), then partnering with industry companies to ensure high-quality job posts and aim to create a supportive space for networking and growth.
I’m here to seek your thoughts and feedback.
Mirza
- gnabgib 2y agoThis doesn't seem like a valid ShowHN: Show HN is for something you've made that other people can play with. HN users can try it out, give you feedback, and ask questions in the thread. Perhaps you forgot to include a URL? https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html
- mariocesar 2y agoYep, this happened a few hours ago, so I assume OP is no longer actively checking this post. Anyway, I found the site. https://archgee.com/ https://archgee.com/ It was interesting because it's not the typical market you would come across in HN.
- archgee_app 2y agoThanks for adding website link!
- archgee_app 2y agoThanks for pointing out. I am new in HN tbh. That's why I was not sure if it is good to include link. That's why I just only wrote the name of website.
- mariocesar 2y agoLink?
- mariocesar 2y agoIt's ok. I found it: https://archgee.com/ https://archgee.com/
- mariocesar 2y agoI'm having trouble finding remote job opportunities in architecture. When I search on the site, I can't find any category, filter, or specific indication that the jobs are remote. Naive question of mine. Are remote jobs not a thing in Architecture?
- archgee_app 2y agoWhen I discuss with my architecture friends they told me that it is rare to find architecture jobs remotely. But I will also add filtering on website in future updates to search remote-friendly jobs
- mariocesar 2y agoI like the idea of Creating an online Architecture job board! Upwork and others like this are not good places to find jobs or at least "good" jobs. You're spot on about its potential to reach a niche; however, I don't believe you have an advantage in giving access to a broader audience than traditional local channels like architecture magazines, newspapers, and personal referrals. because of that, you could have an opportunity to fill a gap in the market. Consider tapping into the market for remote consulting services in architecture. While traditional architecture roles may not typically offer remote work, there's a high demand for specialized services like renderings, calculations, simulations, and compliance. Companies are increasingly seeking remote talent for these roles to access a broader pool and better talent. You could be the piece that will help companies make the jump to hire remote talent with confidence and help job seekers open their eyes to other kinds of opportunities. I've personally helped friends find online architecture consulting jobs. If you're interested in exploring this, I'd love to have a chat. Just email me. Best of luck with your product! I believe you're onto something!
