South Africa floats universal basic income for all
- ggm 2y agoSouth Africa has (or had) an interesting approach to life essentials with costs: if you fall into arrears on water in some townships they fit a flow restrictor to your supply: if you leave a tap on you get survival water for a day, slowly. I suspect UBI will fall into the same bucket: if you blow it on cigarettes and booze then it gets you starch and water. The extent to which Inflation for non essentials sucks value (inflation) will be interesting.
