I have not seen the service itself for the developer, but as for the screen I would recommend a way of customizing a bit more what site it should check. Right now it seems you can only change the port, but plenty of times I just create a new directory under root for the webapp (something like http://localhost:8080/mywebapp http://localhost:8080/mywebapp) because it's easier in some web servers.
