- dt3ft 2y agoAnyone knows the model of that solar panel?
- solardev 2y agoNot that exact one, but many companies make portable panels now. Here's one from Anker: https://www.anker.com/products/a24261a1?variant=42656753549462 https://www.anker.com/products/a24261a1?variant=426567535494... GoalZero, Jackery, etc. also make them, and it's easy to find no name ones on Amazon or AliExpress. It's best if you can run a long cable from the panel to the phone and keep the phone under shade (or maybe just under the panel). Many phones will overheat if you keep them in the sun all day.
- GrumpyNl 2y agoI had to check the source of the page to find out what the 48% stands for, its the battery level.
- coisasdavida 2y agoMastodon points to links and that was also fun to check. Which utility are you using to help with DNS finding your IP?
- 2OEH8eoCRo0 2y agoCool! What was the process for creating this?
- keyboardJones 2y agoI’m not the OP, but the Mastodon thread where I found this gives some more details: https://post.lurk.org/@computersandblues/112570463568163343 https://post.lurk.org/@computersandblues/112570463568163343
- erellsworth 2y agoI wish this offered some explanation for how they actually set this up.
- solardev 2y agoEdit: A sibling post here (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40602632 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40602632) points to a Mastodon thread that says it runs postmarketOS, a Linux distro for phones: https://postmarketos.org/ https://postmarketos.org/ ------ (Original post) Not the website owner, but isn't an (Android) phone just a small Linux computer? There are a bunch of web server apps (https://play.google.com/store/search?q=web%20server&c=apps https://play.google.com/store/search?q=web%20server&c=apps) or you can root it and run whatever software you want on it? In my mind it's not so different than running a web server off a Raspberry Pi or similar.
