Just before anyone thinks this is some kind of Theranos-sounding nightmare:
We've done point-of-care blood testing for a long time. The i-STAT from Abbott has been one of the gold standards for emergent testing requirements in emergency rooms and beyond.

(Can I mention it is an utter pain to link the ancient i-STATs to literally anything?)
- tamiral 2y agosaw the headline and came to say that this is some new version of Theranos... thanks for sharing this detail !
- anonuser1234 2y agoOne of the biggest issues with Theranos was that they were trying to do a multitude of tests with a small amount of blood in a single automated machine. This machine isn't claiming to do more than one thing.
- lionkor 2y ago> Can I mention it is an utter pain to link the ancient i-STATs to literally anything? Its not, it uses a well specified and widely used protocol. Of course that sucks for some use cases, but as far as medical devices go, its not bad.
