Show HN: Cakefriend.co – Custom cake design and delivery platform
- tithe 2y agoThe Play button, immediately leading to another gate asking for the e-mail address, feels like a bait-and-switch (but I suppose that means I made it to stage two in the funnel). How about combining the two screens into one? Design your dream cake, We bake and deliver to you! [_Email Address_______] ( Let's get started! ) Otherwise, I like the idea for the drag-and-drop designer (and I can imagine a number of "assembled" foods where this model could apply: pizza, sandwiches, etc.). Will there be a gallery to showcase other peoples' creations so I can order those, myself? Happy Birthday, by the way!

- chefnomi 2y agoHi tithe! Thank you for your feedbacks, appreciate it 1. About the login page on another page, design wise, separating the landing page and login page was recommended to us to achieve simplicity and better UX. 2. Thank you for the idea of showcasing cakes on the website, we will implement it for sure, however currently users can upload and comment about their cake designs on our Discord community. 3. Thank you so much for your kind words
- matteason 2y agoAsking for my email address before I can do anything means I just won't use it, sorry. It's a shame because it looks like a neat idea The usual flow for sites where you can create custom products is that you can get into the designer with no login and you only need to enter your details at checkout. There's nothing useful on the landing page that would convince me to sign up - what kind of cakes can I order? What locations do you cover? What kind of designs? Can I add my own images or pick from a library or both? Do you do allergy-friendly cakes? What are your lead times? Pricing? That's all the kind of stuff I'd need to know before worrying about the design
- chefnomi 2y agoHi Matteason, thank you for your precious feedback 1. Putting a very simple login/sign up (only needs an email to login with OTP) is necessary to prevent spam, ddos attacks and bots, simply because our servers are handling many requests of loading items at the same time. 2. We are going to write a complete instruction page, and a FAQ section. 3. Since we are a platform, every cakeshop customize their pricing, lead time, items… so it varies store to store. You can choose a store inside our app. 4. Signing up takes 10 seconds, you only put your email and we send an OTP code. We did our best to simplify the process for the users. 5. Thank you for your valuable comments, we will add a list of supported locations, and more details on our landing page. And we will implement a demo to let users to try the app without signing up. I really appreciate you for letting us to know how to improve our platform.
