A fun thought experiment... Put motorcycles in bicycle lanes! That's crazy though, because motorcycles and bicycles are very different beasts. But wait! We put bicycles in car lanes all the time. So clearly mixing bicycles and internal combustion engines in the same lane of travel is acceptable despite massive speed and weight differences. If separating two-wheeled vehicles from cars is safer and more convenient and therefore societally compelling, do it for all 2-wheeled vehicles.
