Instagram tests forcing users to watch adverts

- nomilk 2y agoThere's so much scope for win-win in advertising, where advertisers put effort into their content (doesn't have to be expensive, just informative and wholesome), and platforms ensure ads are somewhat relevant. 'Forcing' is just gross. Hopefully instagram doesn't sink to the depths of You "Don't be Evil" Tube
- cmcaleer 2y agoI'm just waiting for the day where the 'drink verification can' greentext finally gets realised.
- pmx 2y agoI won't be running ads in this format. They're a great way to make your target audience harbour negative feelings towards your brand. I can see these kinds of ads quickly becoming a sea of low-quality, spammy, or scammy ads like the fake game adverts that seem prevalent on Facebook.
- mjamesaustin 2y agoThe content-to-ad ratio on Instagram is already so abysmal, I think this would be the nail in the coffin for me. Social media used to be a place to go see what my friends are doing. Now it's just an endless series of ads.
- cmcaleer 2y agoI don't think I'll be disappointed if this gets implemented. Time-sucking apps which enable these types of ads break the flow of using that app for me so hard that I stop using them entirely.
