Comparison of OSS photo management tools
- Freak_NL 2y agoNitpick: if I want to compare the number of Github stars (as a metric for popularity), than abbreviating values makes this harder when scanning that table row: 716 35k 6.6k For me this would be much easier: 716 35,033 6,607

- mholt 2y agoSurprised Ente isn't on here: https://github.com/ente-io/ente https://github.com/ente-io/ente (AGPL is open source right? ducks)
- rkwz 2y ago> AGPL is open source right? ducks Out of the loop, is it considered not open source?
- heartag 2y agoI unironically have been making a text file of photo management tools I wanted to go through and try before picking one to settle on. Thank you for this comparison chart! Edit, the text file contents so far: • Damselfly • Immich • Lychee • Media Goblin • Photo-Stream • Photoprism • Photoshow • Photostructure • Photoview • PiGallery2 • Piwigo • Pixapop • Photobox
- haunter 2y agoThanks, this something I'm also after. Want to self host a system like that, have the hardware but I'm yet to go through all options.
- _aavaa_ 2y agoI would reccomend a row that quantifies how stable the application is. For example Immich looks very promising, but its homepage has the following banner > The project is under very active development. Expect bugs and changes. Do not use it as the only way to store your photos and videos! That immediately disqualifies it for me. Having this in the table would be very useful.
- turnsout 2y agoIs there a reason that Darktable wouldn’t fit this category?
