I'm so tired of soldered components. The performance and power benefits are simply not good enough to justify producing millions of landfill-destined devices and high costs for consumers.
- johnny22 2y agoI don't think soldered components would have been a big deal were the amounts enough. 32gb soldered on say 7 years ago would last you a long time. If they're gonna solder, they need to stop skimping.
- nottorp 2y agoOne other major problem with soldering is only the most common SKUs are in stock, at least if you're in a smaller market. I mean, I hope the US is different, not sure if that's true. If you want to future proof and max out the ram you have to wait. And if you need an emergency hardware replacement, you're screwed.
