I don't live in Morro Bar, so I don't have a horse in this race; I support battery deployments in California, but I also think it's stupid to place a battery in the place, where people actually want to live. California is large.
In fact, there's a lot of empty space less than 30 km (20 mi) from Morro Bay. Why not to build a battery there?
- allears 2y ago20 miles is a long way from the interconnections available at Morro Bay. And the risk is greatly overstated, not to mention the supposed hindrance to tourism. This is an unobtrusive, silent, non-polluting area with some large metal boxes in a row. Not only that, but in the case of a power outage, Morro Bay would greatly benefit from local power storage. This is a case of NIMBYism run amok.
- defrost 2y agoCalifornia is literally a place with oil extraction rigs and donkeys working in relatively dense urban areas while disguised as "regular buildings" .. eg: 4 Oil Wells Hidden in Plain Sight in L.A. ~ Is that an office building?
