  Very black and white take, no rent control also implies no monopolies/price fixing behavior which is illegal and the point of this post. “Rent Control” is just price fixing in favor of the consumer, but has also a litany of issues including the quality of the community formed Example if rent control forces prices down, but inflation makes the cost of maintenance high, then cost cutting will be done (poor service, poor landscaping, outdated appliances, less renovations, less security). Saying to just do rent control is just as bad as saying let free market run wild regardless of price fixing/collusion
