- RetroTechie 2y agoInternet access using regular consumer devices (routers, smartphones, tablets, PCs etc) in P2P fashion. Using whatever physical tech available (primarily Bluetooth & Wi-Fi, but anything goes). Think https-over-BitTorrent + mesh networking This could do away with (some of) the centralized internet topology we have today.

- not_your_vase 2y agoCalculating the last digit of pi. That, or an alarm clock that recognizes when I press the "off" button instead of "snooze" while being still a zombie, and corrects it automatically. (But it should also recognize it when I press off intentionally)
- JohnFen 2y agoI wrote my own alarm clock application (for the Apple Newton, about a million years ago) that addressed your need indirectly. When the alarm went off, only the snooze button would work with a single tap. To turn the alarm off, you had to enter a numerical code. And the snooze had a unique feature, too. Every time you hit it, it would snooze for half the time you got the last time you hit it, until that time reached 1 minute, at which point the snooze button stopped working entirely.
