OCR Tools for Mac, iOS and Windows
- meinersbur 2y agoFor Windows, PowerToys includes an OCR tool: https://aka.ms/PowerToysOverview_TextExtractor https://aka.ms/PowerToysOverview_TextExtractor Source available here: https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/tree/main/src/modules/PowerOCR https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/tree/main/src/modules... (like ShareX, uses Windows built-in OCR engine: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/uwp/api/windows.media.ocr?view=winrt-22621 https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/uwp/api/windows.media.ocr?...)
- 486sx33 2y ago+1 - I came to the comments to mention powertoys. I’ve had good success with it for OCR on windows 10… also , strange use case maybe - you can run blue stacks to emulate Android and then power toys to copy and paste OCR text. If you have an obscure android only app you need to rip text from.
- tamimio 2y agoFor windows (or linux): I’m looking for a tool that scan a whole folder, OCR thousands of the images in there to find text in an image there quickly, does that exist? The reason why I have so many images in my iphone is I can easily get an image by searching a term in there, or even all images for “cats” for example, I can’t yet to find something similar in windows.
