Since you're making claims about an LLM being able to perform and diagnose a medical condition, have you demonstrated the effectiveness of this product to the FDA's satisfaction and if so, can you provide the regulatory filing? Otherwise, this product makes a great target for a Warning Letter.
- achera 2y agoI am making claims that LLMs are being used as a coping alternative. They do not replace psychologists but rather compliment them. I personally think LLMs are great at providing advice to the users (and yes I have lots of experience providing feedback)
- nullindividual 2y agoYou might want to read what you post before your reply contradicts what you previously posted. > What is the purpose of online video therapy when current LLM models can outperform the best psychologists in the world? Sounds like a Warning Letter might be needed so the LLM techbros get the hint that their unresearched, unvalidated, unfounded claims of chat bots being "great" replacements for therapy are total crap. You should be ashamed of what you're peddling. You could very well cause someone to die if they're hoodwinked by your service.
- peacechance 2y agoI 100% agree with you. This guy should be ashamed of himself and the risk of harm is tremendous. Gross!
- peacechance 2y agoWhat a load of bs. People need to see real therapists not some code-monkey wannabe entrepreneur's wet dream.
- achera 2y agoPeople do use chatbots as a coping alternative. For serious conditions, a psychologists can not be replaced. But many people develop problems due to social isolation which is where this application can really help. Would you like it better if I changed the title to coaching instead of therapy? Also no need to be rude, this is done out of good cause :)
- peacechance 2y agoNo, this is done because you want to make money off of loneliness. Lonely people need humans and nature, not your chat bot.
- achera 2y agoFair points. It's best if we stick to mindfulness and coaching. Thank you
- BoredPositron 2y agoWhat concerns me the most is that, if you examine the credentials of the founders of many of these sort of apps, none of them have a background in psychology. Which is fine if it's just a fun chat app but if you market it as a therapy replacement...yikes.
- achera 2y agoComplements therapy and does not replace it. No need to charge someone $100s if your condition is not that serious. Sometimes we just need to talk to someone. Stats show 1/4 people feel lonely, so we're clearly missing something. This is not a companion, but a coach who will listen and provide you advice to move forward. Maybe I should change the title to life coaching :)
