The reviews aren’t great so far. But that doesn’t mean he won’t strike gold. Dances With Wolves was famously troubled in production and not expected to be a hit. Costner seems to have a surprisingly good nose for content that is overlooked or doubted by mainstream Hollywood (I’ve manually removed Waterworld and The Postman from my analysis).
- jaredhallen 2y agoI'm assuming you mean that The Postman and Waterworld weren't successful, and that may be true by the metrics that count, but I personally really like both of them.
- svennidal 2y agoSame, Waterworld is one of my all time favorites!
- justinclift 2y agoThe initial release of it, or the um... re-cut version (if I'm remembering correctly?) that came out later on?
- next_xibalba 2y agoCorrect. And I also like them quite a bit, so I have to make allowances. And the. Ask myself, “did I have bad taste, or was it the mainstream of 1990s movie goers?”
- m463 2y agoDon't know about the postman, but wikipedia says $175m was spent on waterwold and it was eventually profitable. I'll bet costner will eventually get money back even if its a failure. I'm reminded of george clooney who does films he wants to do personally, then returns to oceans <n> or similar to make hollywood money in a cycle.
