Russian racism towards jews.
Also they probably would have stayed in Russia if they were happy with their government. Luckily Israel was one of the good ways to get out of the country if you had jewish roots.

- mantas 2y agoSome do remember. Some just used some obscure grandpa's paper as a getaway card into a better-off country. With many of those grandpa's papers being forged.
