They are amazing! I had a left sided hemicolectomy (left side bowel removal) last year. When I came round in the recovery room I looked at my wound to see what sort of Frankenstein scar I had. First thing you do after surgery! It was a Frankenstein scar I can tell you. From my pubic bone to my solar plexus. When I peeled back the bandages I noticed a small electronic device attached to my stomach directly over the scar. Turns out the surgery team monitored my progress over the next few weeks with this device. I was also given a hand held contraption with a button on the end. This I found was to release morphine directly into the wound area when the pain got too much for me. No need to call a nurse for more morphine. I am a huge sceptic of big pharma and their medications claims but I have great respect for the real work that goes on in the medical world.
