I find it much easier for the server to drop the check off. A few minutes later they pick it up, then return. Yes, it's three trips to the table, but they are usually refilling drinks, clearing plates, etc. anyway. And, most importantly, they are doing the work versus me fumbling with their QR code and payment site instead of relaxing and chatting. What I don't mind though are tabletop POS systems, wherein the swipe and sign is local and straightforward.
