Isn't giving an such ultimatum a threat to fire? If a worker keeps coming in late and the owner says to them "We love the work you do here but you need to be at the desk at 9am or choose to work somewhere else" Is that ultimatum a threat to fire? So they didn't fire Sam but threatened to fire him and he chose to leave?
