I would probably be told "stop doing that, or you're getting fired" and if I was like "nah I'll just leave" - it's basically me being fired, though with good communication. He was doing something that did not align with YC and he was told to stop doing that, and he said no, and left. Basically pushed out of YC. Not "fired for cause" but pushed out, absolutely.
