Should Google let share passwords across mails for same owner
Suppose I've 4-5 google accounts, each of them store passwords of different parts of my life, like during college my gmail had my social media, current gmail some government schemes.
Now to see the password I've to switch tabs, go to password, but instead if I'm the owner of all IDs shouldn't all of them synced in a way? that all passwords are together.
If google can't perhaps we can, but do they have APIs for that?
- theGeatZhopa 2y agoJust use your big password storage called brain memory and/or choose passwords wisely. Or, some kind of password-manager can be used for that, too. I think, Google can't do this as they just have the password hashed and not in clear text. One can't calculate the clear text password out of hash so easily. And what would be the aim? To use any of the passwords to get into any of your accounts? - use Browsers Passwort storage for that.

Using memory is a relative deal, there are many websites from HN to IG you cant keep them all same or based on a similar pattern, and remembering password even after months is a mess. 2. Password manager is good but it won't do for old saved password, and what if many folks are facing the same problem? 3. Password is hashed but if owner is same can be shared right? 4. Browsers password storage again could be a good deal, can take a dump of all password and use it. But suggesting it even to 400 folks is a mess.

It seldomly doesn't work out and then I have three trials to try the proper one. I don't have such problems with brain memory :) But yes, the only password manager I use is the browsers one. Nevertheless, if goog would enable account linking, I think it would be security nightmare. As, then just one password is needed to access all accounts. (If I understood your intention properly) Edit: Google even do advertising the secure password generator and manager of Google Chrome on TV adverts. So, there's a solution for the non technical ones
- gus_massa 2y agoHow can Google verify all the account have the same owner?
- Shivamsouravjha 2y agogoogle already has an option where you can set other email as backup mail, can ask if the owner is same or not on both ends.
