Do you mean a tragedy?
It's not so bad, is it? They are usually quite simple problems and in my experience don't take more than 30 minutes to complete.
I much prefer to spend 30 minutes solving a simple programming challenge than talk about my strengths and weaknesses.
- lainga 2y agore. travesty - I could see it as An absurd or grotesque misrepresentation of the real work to be done
- d0mine 2y agotravesty: a debased, distorted, or grossly inferior imitation https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/travesty https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/travesty Unless you grind leetcode problems, it is unlikely one could solve them in 30 minutes (you are supposed to cheat). For example, see whether you can come up with Manacher's algorithm (or any other O(n) solution in 30 minutes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longest_palindromic_substring#Manacher's_algorithm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longest_palindromic_substring#... (the example is from the real interview for senior position (implies multiyear programming experience)). I could see a dynamic programming solution (quadratic) be implemented in 30 minutes but not O(n). Try it for yourself.
