Even TFA has this sentiment:

Quite obviously the author didn’t understand or they wouldn’t have put the “but” clause there.
- tredre3 2y agoIt's possible to empathize with someone's pain but selfishly not want to lose the person. Emotions can be complex and contradictory. Unless the person you're quoting actively opposed Zoraya, I don't think it's a clear example of someone who can't fathom wanting to die.
