My parents gave me an underscore my name. They wanted to teach me a lesson that life is hard and outdated computer systems like the one used for plane tickets will never be kind me. I think they were inspired by Johnny Cash’s “A Boy Named Sue” but felt that the whole giving a boy a girls name trope hasn’t aged well (and besides its trendy now anyway.)
