I am working on an app and would really love to get your valuable feedback on it! Here goes.
My app is a digital identity and data authentication system created to combat deepfake and AI scams, and enhance the security of digital identity. It uses the Bitcoin ledger to store users’ public keys (identity) and file hashes (data) in a transaction for immutable storage and subsequent global verifications. The digital identity of a user is created through a keypair using ECDSA (secp256r1 curve). The keypair is generated after the user is authenticated using their phone’s biometric scanner to prove they are human and the device owner. Once the keypair is generated, the user can sign any content (URL, message, etc.), embed it into a QR code, and distribute it for others to verify. The process works in 3 simple steps:
Enroll: When the user enrolls (for a fee), a keypair is generated after biometric verification. The private key is not revealed to the user and is securely stored in Android’s Keystore. If the device is lost or the app is uninstalled, re-enrollment is required. The public key is then sent to the Bitcoin blockchain for broadcasting.
Broadcast: The public key is embedded into a Bitcoin transaction using the OP_RETURN field. Once confirmed by the network, the public key is on the blockchain. Users can claim it via:
Social Media: Link your social media account (currently Twitter) to the LockChain app. The QR code will link to your social media account.
Government ID (coming soon): Verify your government-issued ID through a trusted KYC partner.
Neither: Share your public key privately with selected individuals.
Verify: To verify, scan your fingerprint to access your private key. Attach a URL, message, or content, and sign it with your private key. The QR code generated includes the content, public key, identity claim (if applicable), timestamp, and digital signature. If tampered with, the signature won't match and our system will notify the audience. APIs compare the public key in the QR code to the blockchain to ensure integrity.
In 3 steps, your immutable identity can verify your content to anyone in the world. Public-private key cryptography isn't new, but broadcasting your public key on a distributed ledger is revolutionary. Previously, users had to share their public key directly, which wasn't scalable. Now, LockChain uses Bitcoin’s secure, global ledger to broadcast users’ immutable public keys for verification.
Data Immutability: Hash any file (document, picture, video) and upload the hash to the Bitcoin network. The file itself isn't uploaded, only its SHA-256 hash. To verify, rehash the file and check if it matches the stored hash. Any modification (even 1 pixel) will produce a different hash, indicating tampering.
