Is it ethical (and legal) to sell access to content you don't own?
- tcsenpai 2y agoStumbled across this "distributor". For what I have understood, he just have a huge collection and paywalls it. He literally claims "This website owns none of the music. The copyrights remain with the appropriate people. This material is shared here under the applicable laws for fair non-commercial use. Please ask me to delete music, and I will as soon as I can. " How ethic and acceptable and legal is this? I find it quite unacceptable, if you want to distribute things you don't own, at least open source them

- thfuran 2y agoIf by "content you don't own" you mean "pubic domain works" or "copyrighted works for which you have a license that permits sale", then sure. If you mean "copyrighted content you don't have a license for", then that's pretty much the most blatant possible way to violate copyright. >This material is shared here under the applicable laws for fair non-commercial use. Well, it's worth a laugh at least.
