- ggm 2y agoHere in oz lotto and pokies (one armed bandit) pay higher tax per unit $ than income taxes for most people. I hate that gambling now sustains state funding but our political system won't change a 10% consumption tax (fed/state treaty and every state has veto) so in some senses this is a discretionary payment. But.. gambling addicts. We're taxing an addiction. So in the US would e.g. $10b from this be additional state revenues or would it replace base taxation or would the Seminole tribe agree to a deal?
