Ask HN: Do you want to see a "Windows Recall"-like feature on macOS?
Privacy issues aside, I think this would be a really useful feature. I already take screenshots while I use macOS. Automating this would be more convenient.
- k310 2y agoIf you don't care for the system spying on your every move, (and doing who knows what else) just record the screen. There are various ways to do that. And then turn it off. Or wear a dashcam, for air-gap isolation.
- dave4420 2y agoI agree that it would be useful. I wouldn’t trust a traditional laptop OS to keep this data secure though. I would rather do without.
- daveoc64 2y agoI've heard people talk about Rewind as being the equivalent for macOS: https://www.rewind.ai/ https://www.rewind.ai/
- pucavaz 2y agoI don't want to see Recall crap stuff on Windows. I am afraid to buy a windows arm laptop bc of all this AI bs that Microsoft are advertisement, praying to Linux arm desktop be great and save snapdragon laptops
- al_borland 2y agoI can’t and won’t put the privacy issues aside. If macOS does something like rewind I’ll be going to Linux after 21 years on OS X/macOS.
- quintes 2y agoNope. My Mac thank you. The recent view is good enough.
- indigovole 2y agoNever. It's insane. We can't secure the workstation. We've all probably seen the Mastodon post warning about e-discovery. Now think about malware.
- realsarm 2y agoI think it is inevitable to see such AI features in Spotlight.
