I've been interested in this company that has made vertical axis wind turbines for harsh conditions for 40 years: https://windside.com/gallery/ https://windside.com/gallery/ They have very slowly started to sell to wider market. Clearly they have never aimed at being cheapest, but their advertised maintenance free installation is a big plus. And also that the models can generate electricity at wind speeds from 2m/s to 60m/s.
