If you took undergraduate EE, you would learn most of how to pull off Broadcom's trick when you learned transmission lines: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transmission_line https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transmission_line Cool applications, but probably one of the more boring chapters IMO...
