AlmaLinux OS – Samba File Server
- yrro 2y agoLooks like an OK guide. I wouldn't put shares inside /var/lib/samba though. And the second semanage context command looks dodgy, I thought the file path arguments were regular expressions not shell glob patterns? Anyway I think anyone using samba on CentOS Stream or a downstream distro should check out Red Hat's documentation here: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/9/html/configuring_and_using_network_file_services/assembly_using-samba-as-a-server_configuring-and-using-network-file-services https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterp... And keep a link to the official Samba documentation handy: https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/ https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/
- lproven 2y agoThe project's time might be better spent reaching out to SME Server https://wiki.koozali.org/Main_Page https://wiki.koozali.org/Main_Page Or to ClearOS: https://news.clear.co.com/clearos-server-7-8-community-edition-released/ https://news.clear.co.com/clearos-server-7-8-community-editi... ... and getting them on board before they either die or move to Rocky Linux. SME Server 10.1 still based on CentOS 7, and I suspect ClearOS 7.8 is as well.
