In one of my early jobs my boss was a Chem Eng from UC Berkley, a guy I'll always remember well.
Apparently he had a previous stint in auto manufacturing while we then worked at one of silicon valley's best pcb manufactures.
He expressed frustration: data used to be hard to get but when got it we made business decisions well. Today (1990s) we're lost in our own data nonsense.
Never forgot that.
As an aside he would have made the ultimate straight man in a comedy team, and consequently, was funny without ever meaning to be.
I had to apologize to him in my final interview. On wrap up he said you can call me Larry or Mr. Jo but don't call me Larry Jo which I gathered was akin to marryjo, a quasi southern US shorthand he didn't like. But it immediately reminded me of the airplane quip don't call me Shirley.
So I started to laugh and couldn't stop. He stared stonefaced at me so I laughed harder. I mentioned the airplane line, which he was not familiar with. So he was temporarily confused. So I laughed harder. Then I apologized and called him Mr Jo from there on out.
I learned a ton for Mr. Jo. Wherever you are cheers.
