I mean kinda, but you're still doing a copy on write, its just (from my understanding so I could easily be wrong) you are telling S3 copy the parts of file you don't upload. If you are spooling through a file and changing a few chars at a time, you'll be generating a boat load of writes (and or reading from the wrong file too. )
