Giving Ukraine enough weapons to keep fighting, but not enough to win fast is not a very friendly move. This way Ukrainians are bleeding away instead of just winning. A little sacrificial for me. But yeah, alternative of Ukrainians just surrendering is not viable for them. They've seen what Poland and other post-soviet republics achieved after kicking out Russians and want that for themselves too.
