The Low-Paid Humans Behind AI Ask Biden to Free Them from 'Modern Day Slavery'

- andsoitis 2y agoThis is pretty gross misuse of the word “slavery”.
- bell-cot 2y agoTechnically true. Though the quotes clearly warn (if you're familiar with English-language journalism conventions) that the phrase is metaphorical, or alleged by a 3rd party, or some such. But meanwhile - trying to re-brand "AI" as "slAveI" strikes me as an excellent tactic for human rights & worker rights groups to use.

- dreamcompiler 2y agoHow "AI" is completely unlike human intelligence: Our kids understand what images of evil look like and yet we never had to send them off to Kenya to be trained by a thousand underpaid workers. And those underpaid workers themselves were never so trained. Why is that?
- drooby 2y agoWhy are they lobbying America... shouldn't they be lobbying ... Kenyan politicians?
- bell-cot 2y agoI'd assume that "Big AI" can buy off Kenyan politicians far more cheaply than the US President. And if your in a sh*tty-enough situation, "whatever works" becomes your strategy.
