  Can AI companies which do exploratory talks with artists to use their likeness (vocal or otherwise) stop deciding on termination of talks to just go ahead and pirate their likeness anyway "for shits and giggles" There is a wealth of difference between me, deciding to pretend to be Michael Caine "You were meant to blow the bloody door off" and me, as an employee of a $B company, making product which sounds like Michael Caine in sold services. C'mon. I get the "genie/bottle" problem and I also get that the quality behind "sounds like" may be hard. The "can it be constrained" problem is really second behind "should OpenAI/Altman and co have to pay for their stupidity" in my book. If they didn't expect to pay, why did they even spend time exploring how to pay? Intentionality is big in this. Guinness got done for running a comp which aspiring video artists entered, and then using the IPR inherent in the mini movies to reshoot the ads, no payment. OTOH the BBC stole the entire concept of "the games" from the team who did the original for the ABC, and nobody wound up in court although I think the production company thought about it. Sad really.
