Emacs Easydraw – drawing tool inside Emacs
- Zambyte 2y agoWoah, this looks awesome! I can totally see myself integrating this into my org-roam workflow. Thank you for sharing!
- shrubble 2y agoThanks, I thought it was incredibly inventive and deserved to be shared.
- taneliv 2y agoThat color picker looks nifty, might want to install this just for that!
- nvy 2y agoEmacs has a built-in rudimentary drawing mode (ASCII-art only, obviously) that can be invoked with `M-x picture-mode`. Also of note, artist-mode: http://www.lysator.liu.se/~tab/artist/ http://www.lysator.liu.se/~tab/artist/
- faustlast 2y agoI use that, it is useful for small drawings, not so much for handwriting. When using it with a tablet, maybe with some algorithm improvements, it can be as good as Inkscape.
- abdullahkhalids 2y agoWhy is it not good for handwriting? Is the smoothing algorithm not good enough? Or the resolution?
- pmontra 2y agoBetter than many online tools, except for collaboration.
- abdullahkhalids 2y agoThere is at least one collaborative editing tool for emacs [1]. I have never tried it, and I don't know how difficult it will be to make Easydraw buffer shared. [1] https://code.librehq.com/qhong/crdt.el https://code.librehq.com/qhong/crdt.el
- stebalien 2y agoIf you're looking for a more actively developed collaborative editing mode, take a look at https://github.com/casouri/collab-mode https://github.com/casouri/collab-mode.
- ossusermivami 2y agoI always used picture-mode for that but i may look at this,
- Beijinger 2y agoOutstanding. The only thing Emacs now lacks is a decent editor.
- BeetleB 2y agoSolved long ago with evil.
- bjoli 2y agoEmacs is in many ways a better vim than vim. I moved from vim to emacs+evil and never looked back.
- setopt 2y agoTo be fair, it really depends how you use them. Vim has a better TUI while Emacs has a better GUI. Vim is generally easier to configure while Emacs is easier to extend. Vim has more packages that extend the modal editing itself (e.g. extra text objects), while Emacs has more packages that do everything else. Etc…
- BeetleB 2y agoWhat's impressive is that this is not tied to Linux utilities. In fact, the author developed it in Windows!
- JoeyBananas 2y agoIn emacs you do things the emacs way. You will have a hard time if you try to fight it. This is doing something other than text editing, and therefore it is fighting against Emacs.
