- dang 2y agoComments moved thither. Thanks!
- jonas21 2y agoThe interesting part is that Nvidia revenue is up 262% from last year, which isn't really captured in the other thread's title.
- dang 2y agoYeah I have mixed feelings about those quarterly reports too - on the one hand they satisfy HN's "original source" rule ("Please submit the original source. If a post reports on something found on another site, submit the latter." - https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html) but on the other hand they have quite a bit of overlap with the "corporate press release" genre, which is the one big exception to that rule (https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&sort=byDate&type=comment&query=corporate%20press%20release%20by:dang https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&sor...). There's another principle which trumps both of those though: on HN we trust readers to be smart enough to find the interesting bits.
- skilled 2y agoAt the time I wrote the dupe comment, the Nvidia link was already on the front page in an active discussion. That said, most quarterly reports are submitted as “$brand Q{n} (year)”. And then if there is a surprising arm of a company generating a lot of revenue, that will be reposted by itself. In Nvidia’s case - AI (GPUs) is not really that surprising.
