Elon Musk's plan to address the "very solvable" water scarcity crisis
- incomingpain 2y agoBill Gates open sourced a facility's plans that solves this. Major solar array powers desalination. Can be installed anywhere really. Many communities will easily amortize the build. Curious why nobody has gone for it.
- meepmorp 2y agoDesalination produces a lot of brine, which needs to be disposed of. You can't just dump it back into the ocean because it will kill off local aquatic life by massively increasing salinity.
- josefresco 2y ago> So Musk is right, the technology is there, and it's affordable enough to roll out at scale – in developed nations with plenty of cash, where water scarcity is generally less of an issue anyway. Reminds me of this quote: "The future is already here – it's just not evenly distributed." - William Gibson
- viraptor 2y agoI guess he's already done with the issue of hunger then https://truthout.org/articles/musk-pledged-6b-to-solve-world-hunger-but-gave-it-to-his-own-foundation-instead/ https://truthout.org/articles/musk-pledged-6b-to-solve-world... There's really nothing to see here until he actually does something.
