Not sure you're being downvoted—probably the last bit of your statement... but there is a wave of "jam AI into it or you're not keeping up with the Joneses" in every application and tool I've noticed over the past year now.
It's nauseating, really, and I think for some devs they probably thought their terminal environment was the last place they'd see anything AI pop up, so they're taking out the pent up annoyance out on iTerm2.
