I've been trying to set up an email job dispatcher for my work group, which scrapes the groups emails for keywords and automates common jobs such as "download this sample" or "tweet this" or "run this pipeline"
I planned to do this using a standard linux desktop distro, and affix a touchscreen to the device. Background jobs would have status updates via notifications on the desktop, and clicking on them would trigger jobs.
The problem is, the portrait desktop scene on linux isn't great for 10" screen devices. I've had some great interactions with the Phosh-mobile developers, and kde-plasma-mobile is also promising, but certain display issues or notification actions just aren't working out of the box.
That's when I noticed Lineage (Android) has unofficial Rpi5 builds, and this would fit my use-case exactly as a portrait lab tablet that spits out notifications and runs tasks in the background whilst being interactive and polished.
