I found the Surface Pro to be an enormous faff back in the Windows 8 days - abysmal janky inconsistent touch UI support, high-DPI broken or blurry in several programs, combined with the new Microsoft’s urge to shove ads in every surface of their OS. 2+ different on-screen keyboards that may or may not appear when you focus a text input. Cool concept, very exciting when it worked, but generally worse than buying a separate laptop and iPad for me at least. (Owned 2 generations of it - got a generation update free of charge for warranty issue)

- jitl 2y agoI used gen 1 and gen 2, and still primarily use Windows to this day on a 15” touch screen. Control panel with touch is much improved but the 3rd party app ecosystem support for HiDPI and touch sized controls is even worse today since most companies gave up on Windows Store and UWP style apps. In my opinion Windows 10 was a step back in terms of touch UX because the Windows 8 Home Screen / full screen start menu tried harder to be good. Maybe it’s not Surface but I still have to manually invoke the touch keyboard from the accessibility menu like 20% of the time to type my password to log in after booting up.
