And with those folks, the next step is always rugged invidualist (billionaire) creatives types who take all the risk (with vc money!) should own all this infrastructure and power therein and use it to remake society to their own advantage.
This advanced manufacturing strategy seems to me like a realizable strategy. But I don't see how this will lead to revitalizing towns with new factories (and new jobs). I think it would be just like data centers. They always talk about "all the new jobs it will create", but they create "a good number of jobs" while building it, then maintenance jobs are much much smaller. The potential valueable jobs would seem to be designing these things, adjusting strategies to build things more efficiently maybe, which are probably needing specialized education and training, just like today's software jobs.
