  Sure but a mindset that is dominant enough to influence the direction of research can reasonably be expected to persist - even though there's turnover in the field.

    If you entered academia in 2000 when this became the newly accepted wisdom you'd be around 50 now. Face it you're just old and still think 2000 was four years ago.

      > Face it you're just old Again, sure. That's how I know professional mindsets can age a lot slower than people. > you ... think 2000 was four years ago. Hardly. Want time to go slow? Care for 5 kids + disabled spouse on your own. It makes regular years seem like mindset years.
