Doesn’t a Surface fit that requirement?

Afaik the surface line doesn't stand on their own but with a kickstand, making working on your lap near impossible.

The kickstand works great on your lap. I understand why you'd be concerned but there are zero issues with it (speaking as an owner of at least 3 successively more powerful surfaces with kickstands)

How do you type in lap position?

        >How do you type in lap position? Easily. Spoken as someone who's owned a number of these devices and who prefers to work while sitting on a couch or comfy chair. The kickstand and keyboard work great on your lap. Whatever fear you have simply isn't a reality.

Would you recommend a surface over a standard laptop for couch work? Why or why not?
