In the Netherlands there's a scout event called Hike and Seek, where there's a 100 checkpoints in a 8 km radius around the start. Some 70 teams try to get as many of those as possible without being spotted over the course of Friday evening until Saturday night. Seekers can be any car, horse or bicycle or even also walking essentially, so it's a tense game. And hard to find an empty enough place in NL to do this. Great fun though.
